About
David Pearson
David Pearson, owner of Botanical Concepts, first began his horticultural education in 1986
when he met his neighbor, Professor McLean, then-Director of Landscape Technology at
Broward College. While pursuing his degree in Landscape Technology, David maintained a
few private landscapes on his own (the beginning of Botanical Concepts) and also worked for
Professor McLean's landscape company as an draftsperson apprentice, plant buyer, and
landscape installer before accepting a summer internship in Walt Disney World’s 1991
Horticulture Management Summer Internship Program in Orlando, Florida. As an intern,
David gained valuable learning experience in a public garden setting, working closely with
horticultural professionals to acquire diverse, hands-on experience.
Following the completion of his internship, David became a full-time cast member for Walt
Disney World in their Special Events Department, providing world-class garden design and
culturally distinctive landscape construction contributions for special projects such as Disney
movie sets, television commercials, and promotional events. Ultimately, David’s remarkable
contributions were showcased in the 1991 Fall/Winter Newsweek publication celebrating
Walt Disney World’s 20th Anniversary where he was credited with the invention of a
specialized tree dolly; the design was later granted a US patent to Walt Disney World. David
was also a member of the exclusive horticulture team which provided extensive interior plant
design, installation, and maintenance for the private residence of then-President of Walt
Disney World, Mr. Richard Nunis.
David eventually returned to Fort Lauderdale where he focused his full attention on building
Botanical Concepts. David brings over 30 years of award-winning landscape design experience, creating distinctive gardens with his son, Matthew, throughout the greater Fort Lauderdale.
